Google reviews for Dubai restaurants come from asking every guest, the same way, at the moment the meal ends. Put your direct review link on a table stand or the bill folder, mention it once in Arabic or English, and never offer anything in return. Hotel outlets and cloud kitchens need a few extra steps.

Dubai's food scene has its own quirks: hotel restaurants that share a building and a lobby, delivery-only brands run from shared kitchens, weekend brunches, iftar and suhoor service during Ramadan, and guests from all over the world. This guide covers what changes for Dubai. For the general restaurant playbook, read how restaurants can increase Google reviews.

How do Dubai restaurants get more Google reviews?

Make the review form one tap or scan away, ask every table with one short line, and reply to what guests write. Google's own help page says customers can leave reviews by visiting a Google link or scanning a QR code, and that they need to be signed in to a Google Account.

    1

Copy your direct review link from your Google Business Profile. Our guide to finding your Google review link shows where it is.

    2

Put the link where guests pause at the end of the meal: on each table, in the bill folder or at the cashier.

    3

Agree one neutral line for staff to say to every table, in English and Arabic, with no reward and no pressure.

    4

Ask after payment is finished, not while the guest is holding a card or phone to the terminal.

    5

Reply to new reviews every week, including the critical ones.

When should you ask diners for a review in Dubai?

Ask when the guest has finished eating and paid, but before they leave the table or counter. The right spot and moment depend on how your outlet works, so match the prompt to the service style.

Where and when to ask, by type of outlet
Type of outletWhere the prompt goesWhen to mention it
Casual dining in Al Karama, Deira or JLTA stand on each table or by the cashierWhen the bill is settled
Weekend brunch venueA stand at each table or by the exitAt the end of the sitting, not mid-service
Hotel restaurant or loungeIn the bill folder or at the host standWhen the bill is signed or paid
Café or karak and shawarma counterBeside the payment terminal or pickup pointWhen the order is handed over
Cloud kitchen or delivery-only brandA printed card or sticker on branded packagingWhen the order arrives, with no follow-up needed
Iftar and suhoor service in RamadanOn the table, alongside the billAfter the meal, never while guests are breaking their fast

Ask every guest the same way. Google's policy prohibits selectively soliciting positive reviews, so do not save the request for regulars or for tables that seemed happy. Our guide to review gating explains the risk of filtering guests first.

Does a hotel restaurant need its own Google Business Profile?

Yes. Google's guidelines say co-located businesses should each have their own profile, and they give a restaurant, café or bar inside a hotel as an example. That matters in Dubai, where many well-known restaurants sit inside hotels in Downtown, Dubai Marina, JBR or Palm Jumeirah.

    • Check that your outlet has its own profile and is not just collecting reviews on the hotel's listing.
    • Use only categories that describe the restaurant itself, not the hotel around it.
    • Give staff the outlet's own review link, so diners do not end up reviewing the hotel stay by mistake.
    • If the hotel runs several outlets, give each one its own review link, stand or card.

Can a cloud kitchen or delivery-only brand get Google reviews?

Yes, if it meets Google's conditions. Google's guidelines say delivery-only brands operating from virtual kitchens are permitted if they have distinct branded packaging and a distinct website, and that they must add their service areas and hide their address.

A cloud kitchen never meets its guests, so the review prompt has to travel with the food. A small printed card or sticker on the branded bag, with a QR code and a short line asking for an honest review, is the simplest option. Keep it the same for every order and do not tie it to a discount code on the next order. For more on QR codes, see our guide to making a Google review QR code.

Should you ask for reviews in Arabic and English?

Offering both is a sensible default in Dubai. A bilingual line on the stand or card, and staff who can ask in either language, make the request clear to more of your guests.

There is a legal angle too. As law firm Pinsent Masons summarises the UAE's consumer protection regulations, advertising, website information and invoices must be in Arabic, with other languages allowed in addition. If your printed review prompt also carries promotional copy, check that it meets those rules. When you reply to a review, answering in the language the guest used is a simple courtesy.

What are the rules for Google reviews in the UAE?

Google's Maps content policy applies everywhere, including the UAE, and UAE consumer and media rules apply on top. In practice, Google's policy is what decides whether a review stays up.

    • No incentives: Google bans offering payment, discounts or free goods or services for reviews. That rules out a free dessert, a free karak or a voucher on the next visit.
    • No pressure in the restaurant: Google says merchants should not require or pressure users to leave ratings or write reviews while on the premises. Mention it once, then leave it to the guest.
    • No staff reviews or quotas: Google treats reviews based on a conflict of interest, including from current or former employees, as fake engagement. It also prohibits asking staff to collect a set number of reviews.
    • Hosted meals: do not ask an invited food blogger or influencer to post a Google review of a meal you gave them for free, as that is an incentive under Google's policy.

Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection is the UAE's main consumer protection law. Its executive regulations, Cabinet Decision No. 66 of 2023, took effect on 14 October 2023 and treat misleading claims in advertising as deceptive. The responsible federal ministry was renamed the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in June 2025. Separately, the UAE Media Council's Advertiser Permit has been mandatory since late October 2025 for anyone publishing promotional content on social media, whether paid, gifted or unpaid, so check that the creators you work with hold one. How should Dubai restaurants reply to Google reviews?

Reply calmly, briefly and in the guest's language, and treat every reply as public. Google says that once a reply is approved, it is posted publicly under the customer's review and the reviewer is notified.

    • Thank the guest and mention something specific, such as the dish, the brunch or the occasion they wrote about.
    • For a complaint, apologise where it is fair, say what you have done about it and offer a phone number or email to continue privately.
    • Never share booking details, bill amounts or anything else that identifies the guest.
    • Keep the tone the same for tourists and residents, and in Arabic and English.

Do NFC table stands work with every diner's phone?

Most recent phones can tap an NFC stand, and a printed QR code covers the rest. Apple says iPhone XS and later read NFC tags in the background, without an app. Android phones need NFC switched on.

One detail matters at the table. Apple lists times when background tag reading is unavailable, including when Apple Pay Wallet or the camera is in use. A guest who has just paid by phone may need a moment before a tap works, which is another reason to ask once payment is complete. A stand with both NFC and a QR code means nobody is left out.

If you want the prompt on every table, a Google review stand from our range arrives pre-programmed with your Google review link on an NFC chip, with an optional printed QR code, for a one-off price with no subscription and tracked delivery.
